Ross Senner
I’m an watercolour and ink artist working in south east London. I have always loved painting but after I finished my education I went into carpentry with dreams of my own small company making guitars by hand, however one day on my way to my workshop in 2011 I was in a serious motorcycle accident. I suffered permanent damage to most the nerves in my right arm, my dominant arm. Unable to play guitar anymore let alone build them, I decided to teach myself to draw and paint using my left hand. The first painting I done with my left hand was done by dipping 2 fingers in paint and spreading the paint onto a canvas. I couldn’t hold a brush in my left hand yet as it also had minor damage from my accident and at that time it still had metal pins surgically installed in both of my thumb joints and the whole hand was in a cast. When that painting was finished it was the first time since my accident that I had felt proud of myself, that despite all I had lost there was hope for my future.
